I'm 99.99% certain that you can start counting down from Sept 2011. I'm sponsoring my husband from Egypt and I've been watching the timeline spreadsheet for Egyptian sponsorships; most receive their interview request 2-3 months after their status is switched to processing (after waiting several months for it to switch to that stage). Considering the average processing time posted on the CIC website for Egypt is 12-15 months, it wouldn't make any sense if the majority of the ppl on the forum were bucking the average by ~10 months. You can't always take what is written on the CIC website word-for-word; even if some places say "complete application," I'm positive what they mean is receipt OF the application (having undergone the completeness check in Mississauga), as otherwise CIC would get way too many complaints from having people wait in limbo for an unspecified amount of time, before their file was moved to the processing stage. But you can always call the CIC hotline and speak to an agent to confirm.
Completeness check is the first phase in Mississauga:
What Happens Next
What happens to your application at the Case Processing Centre?
The table below represents the phases of the assessment and processing.
Phase: Completeness check
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) reviews your application to make sure that:
all required fields in your application forms are complete,
you submitted all required documents,
the correct processing fee payment has been made, and
you meet the sponsorship requirements
Note: You will be informed by way of a letter of the results of the evaluation.
Thank you, shamsuannahr. Again, I do hope you're right. I just don't know what to count on now. And I have not found anyone that I can talk to in person at the call centers that can answer the question. I have had my life on hold for a year and a half, waiting to be admitted. I have been waiting three and a half to be with the man I love. It has already been a long road. ANother 11 months seem unbearable.
