Hi Guys

Well after granting of PR, now I am preparing to land but not before early next year and have some few queries before that:

1.Is there any provision with the Airlines where a New Immigrant who is flying for the 1st time to Canada to activate his PR, get some free weighing allowance (more than as what is prescribed). I have heard that u can carry some extra weight only for the 1st time. Is it true? And on an average how much weight is allowed to carry with u on any airline.

2.Now when u land in Canada u have to declare at the PoE – Goods to follow list. Now I have a brother who stays in USA, can I get some household stuff (Kitchen & Electronic equipments) imported from his place to Canada. Will there be any charges/tax/duty levied on it as the goods will be coming from US and nt from my homeland.

It would be great if anyone can share ur experience on this.
And all the best to everyone who are in queue and Luck to everyone who have already landed.

Thx in advance.

>>> Baggage weight allowed varies from one airlines to another. For immigrants they have seperate rules, you would have to tell them that you are new immigrant. Some allow 2 suitcases weight 23 Kgs each, handbag 8 kgs and laptop. Check with your intended airlines.

>>> List of goods to follow means those goods which you owe and use in your country. Customs in Canada would not allow to bring goods from all over the world. Why bother about bringing kitchen and electronics from USA, it is quite cheap here.

Hey Explorer
thanks for the reply, n yess that answer my queries.

Cheers
