So, how the VISA office will be chosen in this case?
Hello David83, your visa office is stated on your CSQ.
Hi guys, i got a reminder email from cic-sydney today
THIS IS A REMINDER EMAIL - PLEASE READ EACH SECTION CAREFULLY TO SEE IF
IT APPLIES TO YOUR APPLICATION.
FOR ANY DOCUMENTATION OR CORRESPONDENCE YOU SEND, PLEASE
INCLUDE A COVER PAGE THAT LISTS YOUR NAME, DATE OF BIRTH, UCI AND
APPLICATION NUMBER.
It mentioned passport need to be valid for the next 6 months, need to mail the police document if you didn't mailed it to cic.
If your have a copy of your application, check IMM5669 to find out if there are any time gaps, arrange a medical test if you already got your medical test request.
Pay the RPRF if it's outstanding.
In the end of the email, it said:
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS
MENTIONED ABOVE YOU CAN IGNORE THIS LETTER.
Looks like a general reminder mail.
It's kind weird i got this reminder email since i'm still waiting for the medical test require.
Appiled in Montreal, got my AOR 17 june, no MER yet
You guys have any updates ?
Thank you

You are right, I didn't know it is there. It is selected as Buffalo. It has one of the longest processing time (40 months= 3 years and 4 months)!!! Why did they sent it to this VISA office and not to Ottawa or Sydney since I am residing in Canada? Can I do something about it?
Thanks
Guys Please fill this google sheet so that we can have a better overall picture.

Hello friends,
I wish to know who sends the AOR for federal. Is it the VO or CIO? I will be happy reading from you guys.

Hi David 83, I recently applied to the federal government and was not given the option to choose visa office as well. My CSQ only mentions to send application to Sydney NS, and does not specify where will the application be sent for actual processing. So why were you sent to buffalo? I've been living in Montreal for 3 years, and got a PEQ. I am from south America, so technically my visa office is Mexico. However, I am wondering if my application will be processed in Ottawa? I am still trying to figure out. Any ideas? anyone? Your experiences are appreciated.

There a line for Burea de federal in your CSQ. I think this is where the VISA office is selected. Check it again if it is filled. I am not sure why I have been selected New York!!! Any way, I will wait until they open the file and make sure of this.
Does MR come by post or by E-mail? and if you are already in Canada, do you still need to submit a police record for all countries previously lived in even if in AOR it say your Application is now complete and now placed in Processing.

To my understanding, you have to submit a police certificate from all the countries you lived in for more than six months in the past ten years, including Canada.
On my CSQ, the bureau federal is Sidney NE. I wonder why the difference? To my knowledge PR doesn't get processed in Sydney, I thought they(sydney) only took complete applications to then send them to a visa office. I guess I will have to call cic at some point.

I had the same confusion until my lawyer from "Campbell, Cohen" explained:
"
Please be advised that Buffalo visa office was closed in 2013 and all applications for this visa office were transferred to Ottawa for processing. All initial federal applications are to be submitted to the Central Intake office in Sydney, Nova Scotia. This office will intake the application to verify if the applicant submit a complete application. If all is completed, then this office will transfer your file to the visa office for processing. In your case, it is very likely that your application will be processed in Ottawa as you are currently living in Canada.
So nothing to worry. After the initial assessment in Sydney, Nova Scotia, your application will be forwarded to the visa office assigned to process applications of the country where you are currently residing and submitted the application from.
Hope this helps.

So they actually started working on the application approx 9 months after they received. Anyone knows what they were doing with the application all that time? Oh yes, they were too busy with Express Entry.

I hope so. But it is strange that they write Buffalo on the CSQ if it is closed. I checked the processing time in north America VISA offices, and one of them is in New York, so, I assumed Buffalo=New York VISA office. Hopefully not, because it will take for ever to get my PR. Thanks for the input
