No.. Not at all.. Money should be in a format where it can be easily liquidated. Stock and mutual funds are full of risk, hence not accepted.

You need to get money from parents as gift deed in a notarized affidavit format. If it's gift deed, no questions will be asked. You xam convert it to FD as soon as you receive it. You need to submit Gift deed affidavit, bank statement with deposit entry in it and FD documents. It should be fine

I did show 1 week statement reflecting cash trasfer as gift deed to be on safer side.

When my husband liquidated from mutual funds ( I am primary applicant) we could not show it as it was difficult to explain every mutual fund we invested in. So all money he transferred to my dad and he gave it back to me as gift deed. So source of money should be shown. I am not sure of same logic will be applied to your situation
