I am trying to apply for a study permit and I want to bring my family with me.
I would like to apply for my wife the work permit and I have been asked to provide
a proof of Document: Purpose of Travel - Other

Your flight ticket departing Canada,
Your travel itinerary (e.g. places you will visit or stay, such as hotel booking),
Proof of a medical appointment.
how am I supposed to book a ticket before knowing whether they will give me the visa or not ? and should I book the tickets two years in advance???

You can book a flight that has full cancellation so after you submit your documents you can cancel at no extra cost and purchase a lower cost ticket when you are ready to go to Canada.
