Or the employer and/or consultants are committing a crime. Both employer and consultant and person paying for the job can be found to have been committing a crime if there is payment involved in securing employment in Canada.
Where are you visiting? Canada is a big country and cost of accommodations differ from one place to another. Are you renting a car? Are you cooking? Eating out? Look at Airbnbs and get an idea. Cost out expenses on websites. Canada is an expensive place.
So look at airbnb costs for Toronto. If just a room, then will you have access to a kitchen? If not, estimate costs for eating out for every meal. Google costs for Toronto as you need to set up your own budget. Guessing $2-4k for a room/food. Are you renting a car? Look at TTC pass, if not. Are you doing any sightseeing? Insurance?
