I am a Canadian citizen and I live - cause of work- in the US. My son was born in the US. I have applied for proof of citizenship for my son and I am still waiting for the decision.
This is what is seen on the website:
We received your application for a citizenship certificate (proof of Canadian citizenship) on June 19, 2019.
We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on August 28, 2019.
I am a naturalized Canadian citizen and the mother is not Canadian. what do I expect? is this normal or I should talk to a lawyer?

Canadian-American dual citizens, like your son, are exempt from the requirement to enter Canada on a Canadian passport; they can enter with their US passport.
I have applied for my newborn baby (born in the USA) proof of citizenship in May 2019. It seems a routine case (to me anyway), but the case has taken more than 6 months so far. Please share your recent timeline for routine cases filed in USA and Canada. My other kid proof of citizenship application was processed in less than one month back in 2017 !! Here is my timeline:
Received May 1, 2019
AOR July 10, 2019
No update since then ( as of Nov 18, 2019). Is it normal? any insights? please share your recent timelines (after May 2019).
I suggest that u request for gcms notes to find out the real deal and at least u know what to expect.
Just like mine. Ive always thought that my application was routine with all docs and additional supporting enclosed. Only to find out that it was forwarded to psu.
