PR CARD RENEWAL 2025 January

my application says; Final decision - January 28, 2025:Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

does anyone know what this means? did anyone get a similar message in gckey 1 week before they got their card shipped?

I just managed to link my application today to the IRCC account and see the same message. How long does it take you to receive the next update?

yes call the cc and get an update - ask them if the card was sent to production. Tonight you could get the final dispatch message on it.

Next week by Thu you could get the card if above is true - good luck.

Just received status update that the PR card was approved.

1. How long should we expect to receive the card in mail these days? I am in Vancouver, BC.
2. I need to travel to the US in the next few days. When the new card is approved, how soon would the current card be deactivated? Any risks if I travel before receiving the new card?

yes call the cc and get an update - ask them if the card was sent to production. Tonight you could get the final dispatch message on it.

Next week by Thu you could get the card if above is true - good luck.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences and advice. My IRCC account was updated this morning, showing that the card has been mailed.


Fingers crossed that it won’t take too long to arrive.

A question to the experts in the group or someone who has similar experience!
My first PR card expired a year ago. Currently, I have another six weeks (+/- 40 days) to meet my RO.
I need to apply for visa (another country) as my employer has sent me the visa documents. I will need a valid PR card to get the visa too as this was the case in past as well.
Is it advisable to apply for PR card renewal on urgent basis before meeting the RO? Technically, I will meet my RO by the time PR card will be processed next month. Can I apply and mention all these details in my letter of explanation alongwith the visa documents?

No. Applying before you meet the RO is a recipe for worse delays (it seems). And they do - in first check - go by the date of submission of the application, even if the day they are analyzing it is later.

Some one said it worked for them, but I feel that's only if the officer is truly skilled. You are just playing with fire if going in with less days.

Worst case if you have no other option. I think eventually you will be fine. You can either get lucky or it may just be a long road.
