Yep. And guess who applied for a study permit smack in the middle of that? Got it in 3 weeks.
Great to hear from someone who experienced it firsthand! I'm planning to submit my e-APR soon and was getting nervous about it.
The irony is that you need to be a citizen to work for the government.
You don't
Will it be impacting the Oath ceremonies later in the month of April and May?
Most job posts that are open to the public at GC Jobs website do not require citizenship. There is a statement that the priority is given to veterans, citizens and PRs.
Also I am a source. I have been a permanent federal government employee for almost 3 years and like many here, I am waiting for my citizenship, which I applied for in November, 2022
@zabrodov is right. I know many friends who are working for government on PR. You need to get security clearance. But it's also true some high level security clearance happens only for citizens. Those jobs are out of bound for PR.
The people who did not work for 2 years while being paid full salaries now want to go on strike. Lmao, I should switch from the private sector to a government job.
Exactly, its absolutely shocking. They already have really good pensions, RRSP employer matching, bonuses, lots of vacations, what more do they want.

The problem is always the union hahahaha
Depends on the position some required citizienship, others don't. I have a friend who is on PR and working with the government

I stand corrected.

They can always ask for more lol.
Will the spouse visa PR processing be affected due to this strike?? also which province is the strike?

Province? It’s Canada wide.

Honestly I'm so pissed, I hope it doesn't affect our ceremony cos I'm scheduled for oath on the 8th of May.
