Please help (I am in a complicated situation) : regarding hours

Presently I am working at two places for more than 50 hours a week since 6 months (1200 hour accumulated)under NOC B category. I read on your blog that for applying under CEC class we need just 1560 hours under NOC O,A,B. My question is:

Question If I quit my one job and work for 18 hours/week for next 6 months (450 additional hours), will I qualify for PR under CEC category part time

My total hours will be 1650 at the end of my one year experience but my experience will have different number of hours every week. I.E one or two hours more or less.

Please help

50 Hours/Wk 6 months = 6 months
18 Hours/Wk 12 Months= 6 months
That makes 1 year in your case.

The reason being that 450 hrs part time is equivalent to only 15 weeks full time, so you will be 11 weeks short. You will need to work for another 43 weeks @ 18 hrs/wk to be ok.

Now it makes complete sense to me.
Even though I have worked over time during my first 6 months that doesn't count in my 1560 hours.

So if I have to complete the number of hours afterwards than I have to work more weeks to complete my hours

50 Hours/Wk 6 months = 6 months
18 Hours/Wk 12 Months= 6 months
That makes 1 year in your case.

You have to have a minimum of 12 months of full-time work. MINIMUM. The definition of full-time work is "30 hours or more per week." You can get those 30+ hours per week at one or two jobs.

You can qualify using part-time work, but by definition it takes longer that 12 months. Working 2 part-time jobs at the same time, if you work more than 30 hours per week combined, means you get to count the week as "full time." It does not change the fact that you need to work at least 12 months.

some examples:

60 hours per week for 6 months = 6 months
30 hours per week for 6 months = 6 months
15 hours per week for 6 months = 3 months

25 +25 hours (50 hours per week) for 6 months = 6 months

So to answer the OP's question -

You currently have the equivalent of 6 months of full-time work. If you switch to part-time, it will take you more than another 6 months to complete the CEC requirement.

For simplicitly's sake, let's say you have 26 weeks of full-time employment, so you need another 26 weeks of FTE employment (26 weeks* 30 hours per week gives the equivalent of 780 hours in part-time work).

If you now work 18 hours per week, it will take you another 43-44 weeks to complete the 1 year requirement.
(780 hours / 18 hours per week = 43.3 weeks).
