Do I have a negative impression of lawyers? Answer is no. In fact I have relatives who are lawyers.
But, yes, it is unfair to say they are screwing their clients. Under normal circumstances, they normally don't. They are doing a service their clients ask of them. But PGP under FCFS is NOT a normal circumstance. 100,000 or more clients paying lawyers to do their paperwork that only 10% (or less ) of them will get accepted. See the big picture? Who are really getting screwed out of their money? Who came out richer in the end? But, by all means get a lawyer and spend the money. I'm not stopping them. But you might as well take that same money and spend it in a casino. You get better odds there. Any lawyer will be willing to take your money knowing the odds are stacked badly against their clients. No lawyer will want to take a case to court, if they know they will lose, unless they are getting paid regardless. Will the lawyer tell their clients that their service is free of charge unless their papers got selected? Not bloody likely. You have a 90% chance of wasting your money on a lawyer with the odds stacked against you whether its FCFS or lotto system. And the lawyers know this, thus none will turn down the clients' money, regardless of the outcome. In other words, they are willing to "screw" their clients over.
It's better to get a lawyer AFTER you get selected for PGP. Only then would you be getting your money's worth. And most importantly you are NOT going to get "screwed" out your money. Unless, of course, the lawyer royally screw up the actual PGP papers after getting picked.

Will the lawyer tell their clients that they will expect payment if the client got in the cap or the service is free? Or will they still take their money knowing full well, they may have wasted their money. You have a 90% chance of wasting your money on a lawyer with the odds stacked against you whether its FCFS or lotto system.
Also couriers. People spent a huge amount of money on couriers who promised to be first in the door. Courier companies lost tons of money when IRCC switched to the lottery system.

That is true. But couriers didnt really lose a lot of money, otherwise they would be out of business. They only lost their annual once a year exorbitant profit margins.

Anyway I guess it is good that the govt is going full on lottery system right guys? No lawyers screwing clients. No couriers screwing customers. Everyone has an equal chance. No govt is gonna get sued. And they can have lower actual numbers of parents granted PRs while making applicants think they have the 10k or 20k whatever number of spots.
my income on NOA have been steadily $150k+ for a few years. and I'm still in this luck-based game with those who struggles with basic income? I have zero issue supporting my parents and I am still given same priority as those low-income dudes?
Hi Guys, I have a very simple question, to which I am not able to find an answer anywhere, so pleeease help.
Here's the situation (I'm going to invent it, just for the sake of understanding how it works!)
1. A person landed in Canada in Feb 2016 and started working in Mar 2016. Totally 10 months of employment, annual income way exceeded the MNI.
2. 2017 and 2018 also annual income exceeded the MNI.
3. NOAs for all three years 2016, 2017, 2018 available.|
Was the person eligible to file the application for PGP in Jan 2019? Or!!! He had to wait until 2020, because out of the 3 years 2016 he was not fully employed? Is there any requirement about being employed Jan 1-Dec 31 for the year to be taken into consideration for income proof? Or is it the size of income that counts and the availability of NOA?

Happy for you to be making good money. You worked hard to earn your keep. So I guess you have a problem with health care in Canada then. Everyone has same access to health care regardless of income. So are you suggesting that you should get better health care or jump the queue over those just struggling with basic income because you make more money?
