Did you just call the regular call centre number (1-888 something)? I called them this morning the guy over the phone refused to confirm whether they receive my passport or not. They said that my tracking number is the confirmation. Btw, my passport was received by Ottawa on Dec 30.

Well ask few more questions which will make them to look into the application , then ask if they can see if they have got the passport.
The agent initially said the same to me , then I asked few more questions for which she had to look into my application.
While answering that , she said she also can see that passport was received
She also clarified they don't normally check passport status cos they never know how long the wait is before a office gets to the passport !
But in this case she said I was lucky to see it being processed this early !
Well you know how CIC is !! they just goto make everything difficult !
