Hello all,
I am sponsoring my common-law boyfriend for Canadian PR and we are hopeful that our case will be processed quickly. The issue is that we plan to go travelling while we are waiting for his PR application to be approved. And so, when/if the "Passport Request Letter" comes, how long does my boyfriend have to send in his passport to get the visa? We're worried that we would not be in the country and that there is a certain time limit to forward his passport to the embassy. (We're applying through Berlin by the way - does this process differ per embassy?)
Any feedback on timelines would be appreciated!
Thanks a lot

I had that same issue. I had to cancel my August trip because of it. My passport request was recieved on July 11th and I was given until August 30th to send it in.
Mud did your status in e-cas changed to reflect the decision.
In my experience the day e-cas change (decision made) the next day i received an email to pick up the passport.
we got a letter telling us to send them our passports, what is the processing time after sending them our passports???
and after we get them we just have to take a ticket and go or there are some other things?
@ Marlena - I noticed my ECAS changed the same day that I recieved the PPR letter from Buffao. It changed from In Process to Medicals Recieved Decision Made.
Well I got my fingers crossed for a happy ending. Haven't quite made it to the end yet. I have yet to actually submit my passport because I sent it in to the US passport place to have my name changed it in. Hopefully I get it back in time or we'll be doing this whole process over again.
Hi guys!
Quick question...Does the Buffalo Visa office request the passports though email and regular mail? It is because my spouse from the US was planning to stay in Canada while waiting for the process..But unfortunately, it looks like it is best to be in the US and wait for the passport request. Is this correct? thanks guys!!!
