According to CIC website (.../apply-who.asp):

Your work experience must be:
* for at least one year, continuous, and paid (full-time or the equivalent in part-time)

What does "equivalent in part-time" exactly mean?
Does it mean part-time work hours per week must be 37.5 and more? if so, what's the difference then?
Do they accept part-time work during studying as work experience?

Please share your opinions and experience.

as far as I understand, they devide youк part-time work experience by 2 - if you have worked 2 years part-time, that would be equivalent to 1 year in full-time job.

I'm not sure whether they count part-time work experience while studying or not. I think they do, and I think I've seen that somewhere in the guidelines, but can't remember where exactly it was. anyway, I put my part-time job during studies in the application, and I hope they'll count it, otherwise I might be lacking points (my application was approved by CIO, so I guess they do count it)

1. No, you divide the number of hours worked by 1950 which gives you the years.
2, The job has to be A, B or O in the NOC to be counted.

why by 1950?

1950 (number of hours) / 37.5 (number of full-time hours per week in Canada) = 52 (number of weeks in a year)

Part time work means 20 hours per week....

Thank you friends.
Can part time work hours be more than 37.5 per week?

I don't think it is limited to 20 hours per week.

Well, if u show part time work exp then 20 hours part time work per week for 2 years will be counted as 1 year full time work exp....this is what i meant :P

Do you mean it is not necessary to tell them the work hours per week? Just mentioning part-time work is enough?

I think PMM's opinion is more accurate and logical.

no,no, you MUST tell them that u worked 20 hours per week for 2 years. for this 2 years part time work exp u will be awarded points which is equal to points for 1 year full time work exp. For example, normally an applicant will get 15 points for 1 year full time work exp, and 17 for 2 years full time work exp, whereas you will get 15 points for your 2 years part time work exp. :D

Except that some people work 10 hours a week part time others 28 hours a week PT, you can't just use a statement the part time is 20 hours a week.

Any other ideas?
