Yes, but I think you’ll change visa office as well. We don’t really know what the implications of changing countries are, it will probably delay our file. In my husband’s case we did not have much choice because we were not able to renew his French visa.
Yeah, it all comes down to personal choice. Our MP told us that my husband should remain in France awaiting the visa to avoid further delays. But he was jobless (no visa), alone during Ramadan and becoming depressed so we made the choice of risking longer processing time because we’re at 15 months anyways.
By the was he was fined 120 € for leaving France without a valid visa.
But we don’t know if it’s the same staff handling apps for his country. Plus if we need an interview we have to wait for staff from Paris to travel to Algeria.
Are your applications "complex" guys? I really hope you both hear news soon... did any of you require additional documents or an interview? Sorry I can't see timelines on my phone but are you waiting for medical and biometrics or just for PPR?

I think my application is not "complex". They already requested additional documents the RPRF and fingerprints (for criminal record in Canada). I only waiting for a decision... the PPR I wish so...

I don’t think our case is complex, I have been told by my MP that it is very straightforward. They asked for an updated schedule A and list of travel in January 2019 and since then the background check has been ongoing. We are not supposed to have an interview unless something comes up during the SS. Medicals have been done in May 2018 (expired now, no request for a redo) and we were exempted from biometrics.
