Same is happening with my case, I was told by my VO on 28th August 2012 that my case processing will be completed within next 3 months and than for no good reason on 15th October 2012 I got reply that my current case status is Background Check and will take some more months, since than I am getting the same reply "Some More Months" a very bizarre reply with infinite delay time this only creates disheartening and a serious doubt that they are delaying the processing due to under the table rules or some delay agenda which they are not ready to share as that would be purely illegal or can be challenge and harm their public face.

i have been a silent participant of this forum, applied for FSW on 28/03/11 in london. received acknowledgement on 28/04/11. then nothing till june 2012. I moved back to pakistan and informed CHC london about new address. received update doc letter on 18/08/12 inclucding PCC from UK and Pak. sent in november 2012. received medical request and rprf fee on 03/12/12, medicals done on 24/12/12. medical received line added on 07/01/13. RPRf fee draft received by chc london 17/01/13. my category was 0631 as a restaurant manager.
how long do they normally take for background checks? I know it will take a bit longer coz of living in 2 different countries.btw I have been to canada once on a holiday in 2005

In my case, I received email from LVO having MS word file as an attachment for Step-2 instruction. Simple instruction to send:
1: Original passport (photocopied send in Step-1 to LVO)
2: Return Label (Your name, home address, contact numbers)

AOA sleo in response to my last cse to lvo they replied in oct.12 that your file is awaiting review by vo and they send me( remedical forms and request for fresh pcc) which I did in mid of nov.12 and now I m waiting for next step,I m hopeful that by grace of ALLAH inshallah we all get prv's soon.thanks
