Thanks for the response, but it somehow doesn't help in my situation. I haven't applied for my PR yet, so I want to apply work permit extension on the basis of Ontario letter of support. So which application should I submit?

The discussion in the link relates to implications of open and closed permits. I think in your case it will be the closed work permit mentioned in the thread. Sorry, I don't have much idea about the work permits. You can also post your question in the "Ontario PNP Applicants 2013" thread.
I applied to Opportunities Ontario in February (Masters stream), received file number and request for additional documents in April. In July I received a phone call from them asking to see if I had applied for a PGWP so I sent it to them. They basically told me that if I started to work then I should let them know. Starting to get a little worried.
CIC received my file on March 28, and got file number and medical request on April 29, medical exam result received on the beginning of May. It has been two months after CIC received my medical result, I am wondering if anyone has some information about what is the next application status. Felt a bit anxious :-[

I have applied for Ontario PNP under "International Student with Job Offer" stream. I received Employer Pre-screen application and my Nominee Application (2nd stage) was filed on 24th April 2014. I got my file number and also a request for additional documents. The additional documents were submitted on 20th June. Now my 1 year work Permit expires in mid-August. That makes the situation a bit tight for me. I am looking for ways to be in legal status and be able to continue to work. Please advice on the steps I should take if my WP expires before receiving my Ontario PNP certificate. Has anybody been in the same situation? Should I go on and apply for WP extension without PNP Certificate?

It's ok then. I know some friends who got their file # after 2- 2.5 months and their nomination within a week after so finger's crossed. I am not sure about my case.
