My friend is bringing her dependents over from her home country and plans to buy the ticket herself thru an agency. Anyone had any experience buying a one way ticket for dependents of WP holder? The agency is insisting for a 2 way ticket pointing out that the airline staff at the airport might not let the passengers thru even if the passengers have Temporary Resident Visa. Since the visitors record will be stamped upon landing at the point of entry, is there any way of showing the check-in counter staff a document with regards to the visitors record at the point of entry?
The airline is limiting their liability. If the person boards on a 1 way ticket and is found to be inadmissible at the port of entry, then the airline is on the hook for the return fare. Many airlines will not allow travel on 1 way tickets for this reason, and they are within their rights to do so.
The whole point of Work Permits, Visitor Records and Study permits is that they are TEMPORARY, so it is expected that the foreign national will depart at some point.
