I'm new to this forum, so I hope I'm posting my question in the right place.
I'm a resident of Belgium and received my LOI in February (for IEC) and am planning on going to Canada in September. I was planning on buying a one way ticket and then buy a return ticket once in Canada, since I don't know when I will be returning. Does anyone know if they will let me in with a one-way ticket and a proof of funds because I can't find anything on Belgium in the FAQ's.
Also, it's impossible to buy a return ticket one year ahead.
Since you're from Belgium (visa exempt) and on a year long visa, your explanation of "It's too far in advance to book the ticket" will be fine. You can just tell the IO you hope to wait until your visa is about 3 months before expiring and check on sale prices. I wouldn't worry about it too much. I wouldn't say you don't know exactly when you're leaving though. Always say by the date your visa expires or sooner! "May 1, 2014 the latest!" As example.
Yup, they usually don't ask for a return ticket, but they may ask if you have enough money to support yourself and be able to buy one at a later date. They will also ask you if you have purchased a travel insurance.
