I am going to be moving my wife to canada, i am a permanent resident and have been waiting in england sorting things out and am taking my wife to Canada to move. Obviously we have to both be in Canada to apply for sponsorship but i have only booked a one way ticket as we will not need a return. If i explain that I am sponsoring her will they take that alright or still want a return ticket ?
Yes, you have to be in Canada in order to sponsor your wife for immigration, but it does not mean that she must move with you at this time. In fact, she cannot really move to Canada until she got her PR visa.
At the border, you need to make sure that you're not saying that your wife is moving to Canada with you. She is coming for a visit, and you have the intention of applying for PR. There is no guarantee that she will be letting into the country, and be prepared for a few questions - have proof that you can support her etc. She might still get denied - but it depends on what else you will say at the border.
You could also book a return ticket and cancel it once she is in the country.
Depending on where she is from, you can also apply outland even if you're in Canada. As a PR, you need to be in Canada, but not your wife it you're applying outland. She can be in Canada and still apply outland, and if she is from a visa-exempt country, chances are that it will be a faster process than inland.
Well i've had a job offer from my Dad's old boss but wasnt able to get a letter unfortunately. I have documents about me shipping my stuff there and a letter from my parents saying that my wife will be staying with us etc.
So if I just say that we have just got married and she is visiting then that shouldnt be a problem. We will be applying for permanent residency for her, we have the police check done in England and were going to get the medicals done in Canada.
Would anyone advise getting a return ticket for her for like a few months time that i can cancel or is it not a big deal to have an open ended one way ticket?

i know the goverment and the immigratiions of canada if you are not a Pr , or Citizenship asking for the return tickets to give them a proof that you are not staying in Canada illegaly , i am advising this cuz they advise not to sell one way tickets for non citizenship and non PR residents.
just buy a return tickets and dont go back
Thanks for the advice.
Thats fair enough. I will just book a ticket from Canada to UK a few months from now and that should be good, we are making a round trip via las vegas so, im guessing they wont mind if it is with a different carrier that is cheaper than the other one that will bring us into canada. Just that there is a return ticket booked under her name.
