My understanding that test can take place anytime during regular processing. It doesn't mean those files are wrapping up. It is an indicator only for urgent processing. Can someone confirm?
This is for my wife. My details are already in March 2020 group & up to date.
Submitted her application on 1st Oct. 2020, delivered on 4th Oct. 2020. Received acknowledgement on 29th Jan. 2021. Processing started on 5th Mar 2021. Single application from Hamilton, ON

Not necessarily. If you look at the timeline for both individuals, it fits that of the average October/November applicant i.e., of applicants who did not apply for urgent processing (UP).
Now, it could very well be the case that both individuals applied for UP in the middle of their processing. However, given other 2020 applicants receiving random test invites despite not applying for UP, I am inclined to believe that there is still a good chance both were normal applicants.
And it is about time! I think there will be a couple more scattered test invites as such in the next few months before a sharp pick up around September/October. Exciting stuff.
