I just received a response from CGI Toronto about the partially missing characters on the MRZ in the OCI booklet. They said I can travel with this OCI booklet.

I have it in written now, gives me some peace of mind. If I am questioned at the border, I will just show them this email.

It’s been 30 calendar days, I submitted both surrender and OCI, but there is no update. Should I be worried about it.

For everyone else, I DMed them on this twitter channel at 11:00 PM and they responded within a minute (Yes, you read it right, 11 PM!). They asked me for my phone number and I got a phone call next afternoon. May be their twitter handle is managed from India. In any case, you will get a quick response.

So during our call, I asked them to email the clarification to me because I can't show the phone call as proof. They had emailed me before but with a wrong response (they don't read emails carefully before replying) so on the call, I asked them to email me the right response for proof. And I got the correct response within a few minutes.

If you have any doubt and you can't find answer from anywhere else, please feel free to tweet then. Of course, do you research first instead of wasting their time.

I also have a question. I was filling the OCI application form and it's asking to upload India visa. I never had an Indian visa because I had Indian passport until now. I just want to check if they are not asking for Canada's PR visa on my Indian passport. Can anyone help?

Also, do I need to upload any documents under Relationship certificate category? I am using root as Self.

Go through the last page of the checklist for the BLS in your region. It says what you have to upload under Indian Visa. For BLS Toronto you have to upload COPR copy

Received Surrender Certificate+cancelled passport today. Less than 10 calendar days. India clearly wanted me out asap

Hoping I get OCI as well by 1st/2nd week Nov

OCI is now showing under process in OCI site.

Does anyone know BLS Brampton is open on Saturday? I got an appointment for Oct 30 which is for Saturday but on Google It is says Open From Monday - Friday.
