What is the declaration form we should upload under Indian Visa ? can you please give the link to the declaration form ? Who has to sign ? - Kid thumbprint or parent or parent's signature ?
You can get the declaration form from the checklist. For minors, both the parents have to sign this form.
This form is mandatory for Toronto jurisdiction, not sure about others.
Is this the form where we say we gave our voter id and ration card. I got confused because there was another one declaration form as last page in OCI application form.
The form which you are referring to is this one ?
"With reference to my OCI application file reference number
…………………………, I hereby declare that I have surrendered my Voter ID
and Ration Card to the concerned Indian authorities in India after acquiring
Canadian citizenship or other foreign nationality.
If later on, I am found to have the possession of either of these
documents, i.e. Indian Voter ID card and Ration Card, I will alone be held
responsible for the repercussions of my actions of non-compliance. "
^^^Here child thumbprint and both parent has to sign ?
If only one parent is canadian citizen , it is enough for them alone to sign ?
This is the declaration form at end of OCI page ,
"1. (Name of the applicant) .......................................................... solemnly and sincerely declare that
foregoing particulars stated on this application are true and I make this solemn declaration consciously
believing the same to be true. In case the information is found to be false at any stage, I am liable for
legal action/cancellation of registration as Overseas Citizen of India cardholder/deportation/blacklisting
or any other action as deemed fit by the Government of India. I have no objection to share the
requested personal particulars for processing of Overseas Citizen of India card by the security
agencies.
2. I shall not use the Overseas Citizen of India card for undertaking internship in any foreign Diplomatic
Missions or foreign Government organisations in India or to take up employment in any foreign
Diplomatic Missions in India without prior permission from the competent authority designated by the
Government of India.
3. I shall not use the Overseas Citizen of India card for undertaking any Missionary or Tabligh or
Mountaineering or Journalistic activities or Research in India or visit any place which falls within the
Protected or Restricted or prohibited areas as notified by the Central Government or competent
authority without prior permission from the competent authority designated by the Government of India.
4. In the event of dissolution of marriage or marriage to another foreigner or death of Indian spouse, I
shall surrender my card to the issuing authority or mission [ applicable to spouse based applications]. "
^^^ For this also child thumbprint and and both has to sign ?
And there is one more specific for child ,
"I am a parent/ legal guardian**/ legal adoptee parent of ......................................................... to whome
the foregoing particulars relate. I hereby apply on behalf of my/ the child for his/her registration as an
Overseas Citizen of India Cardholder."
^^^Here also both parent has to sign ?
I would suggest in-person
Thanks ,is it walk in or does one have to take an appointment
Thanks ,is it walk in or does one have to take an appointment
An appointment is preferable, as walk-in may result in indefinite waiting and reliance on others' cancellations.
Can anyone please help , For in person appointment ( BLS Halifax ) for minor , is it necessary for both of the parent to be present ? Did anyone applied recently ?
Anyone from Ottawa/Montreal who applied in Feb and still waiting?
Does BLS Toronto take original passports for processing when submitting applications at walk-in or do they just verify the original and return it right away?
I’m applying for myself and my kid(minor).
Surrender of Voter ID
Hi folks, I wanted to share my OCI timeline, and an interesting update. Although I became a Canadian citizen in the summer of 2023, I procrastinated on applying for the OCI. I was really worried this procrastination would cost me cos of the new requirement/rule enforcement to surrender your voter ID (I've never had a ration card). But...I'm pleased to share my OCI was approved despite not being able to surrender my voter ID. I tried several ways to give it up using instructions shared here by others, but nothing worked. Even if checks are carried out at the MEA to confirm whether you have struck your name off the electoral register, I can tell these checks are randomized.
TLDR: Officers are either not checking for every application, or they do not have all of the information needed to conduct a thorough check!

Return it right away after verifying.
Hi ,
Not sure where you have reached so far with your application and I believe you are going for postal option.
Please keep COPR form with your application. My friend recently got his postal application rejected due to the reason there was no copr.
Please don’t lose your money

Hi there,
If you applied in Feb, you may have to wait for 3-4 more weeks depending on when you applied. Please look at my timeline in the thread.
