Hi Guys,

Finally something good to report. I just checked the OCI portal and I see the date of acknowledgments is updated. Shows date as 09/14.

Application status - Under-Process.

So guess now it is just a waiting game.

Date of Acknowledgment September 01. No Update since and I am flying on October 4th. Hopefully will get the OCI before that.

Thats a good sign, Did you apply on August 31st from Brampton. Looks like Brampton BLS is running bit slower.

I did it from North York and got my ack. today too. Looks like it takes exactly 2 weeks for acknowledgment.

I did a postal application. Received at Brampton office on 08/13. Date of Acknowledgement - 09/14.

Not sure if it has got anything to do with BLS office. Can't be sure.

i did it recently...

took 1 week to receive Surrender certificate
and 6 weeks to receive OCI card

I am from windsor too. Trying to apply for surrender certificate but no appointments until first week of November. Did you end up taking someone else’s appointment? Or just walked in for surrender certificate in Brampton? And please provide any other info I may need for walk in applicants without appointment.

There is a high chance for you to get oci in hand before September 29th.

Or just walked in for surrender certificate in Brampton? And please provide any other info I may need for walk in applicants without appointment.

Just walk in to the Brampton BLS, reach before 8 AM to be sure that you will get in by 1:30 PM. Preferably on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Other days are much crowded.

Got my OCI approval yesterday.
Timeline:
Walk-in at Brampton BLS : Aug 8
Acknowledgment on OCI website : Aug 24
Document printing status - Processed: Sept 14
Dispatched from MEA : Sept 15
Received at Toronto: Sept 15
Hopefully I will have it in my hand by next week

You will likely get OCI approval on 28th or 29th Sept. If you opted for courier services, you might not get it on time. I think collecting in-person might be best option here. You should connect with BLS if you can change the delivery option

I am waiting on the approval once they update the status on approval I’ll call BLS and see if I can pickup or if I have enough time to get delivered.

I am planning to go in toronto bls location with all her original documents , but not sure she must need to be present ??

one person can submit documents for all family members, if you're picking up oci documents from BLS, then all adults needs to be present in person
