BLS also accepts passport surrender applications at 40 Gillingham. I surrendered mine there last month. They recommend to go to 60 Gillingham if you are applying for the Indian visa too with the surrender application.
Surrender certificate takes less then 8 weeks for sure. Consider approximate timeline around 4-5 weeks. People have received their well before 4 weeks too.
One of the requirement for the OCI now is to produce a surrender certificate and Cancelled Indian passport. You can apply for your wife's surrender application and your OCI application at the same time at 40 Gillingham and then apply for your wife's OCI once she receives the surrender certificate and Cancelled passport.

Anyone with acknowledgement date October 13th? I got my OCI processed and received in Toronto on Nov 5th. But there is no update on BLS tracker after that. Let me know if anyone else is on the same boat.

Did you mean submitting multiple OCI applications for the family in the same walk-in/appointment? Yes, you can.

Thanks again man... but I fear this will hamper her travel plans to India at the end of January... thinking of booking something around January 27th or so. Just OCI would've been fine seeing the timelines I see here but with Renunciation added to the mix, not sure if I should apply for visa for her as I apply for my OCI. Decisions, decisions, decisions

if the timeline is tight, you can apply for Surrender and Visa for your wife at the same time at 60 Gillingham.

No, you cannot. Apply for OCI only after you have received your surrendered passport back

My OCI card has been received at Embassy on Nov 4. Applied at Bls Surrey through Walk in. But update on Bls- shows Processing at consulate. I have to travel on Nov 22. Would I be able to get it on time?

Printing Status processed on November 3rd. Dispatched and Received in Toronto on November 5th. This is on the MEA site.

Only after the acknowledgement. Its similar to how your citizenship app showed online after the AOR. For me the acknowledgement took 3 weeks after application submission
