Ohh.. But doesn't the checklist specify "original and copy" for indian passport, canadian passport, and citizenship certificate? Said so in the instructions too.. Was I not supposed to send it?

Yeah the checklist for Toronto says "original and copy". I was bit uncomfortable seeing that and went through this forum while preparing the application file and got a sense that it was not required.

I called BLS before I submitted my application to ask this question about the Originals being asked in the checklist. His words - "Oh yeah, ignore that checklist. It is pretty old, we need to update it. You don't need to send any originals.". He also told me that that's the reason they don't charge extra $30 nowadays, which they used to charge to return the originals.

The process itself is slow mate, irrespective of the office handling it. There could be few days here and there between them. But overall 2 months for this process end to end is something difficult to understand.

I hear you. Its unbelieveable that I submitted my application on April 12th and I finally got the OCI acknowledgement date of May 25th. I check my OCI status page so often that I have now memorized my passport number and OCI case number. LOL

I waited almost 2 months for Surrender Cert... Now, 2 months for OCI...
where as my friend, who took oath the same day as me in Alberta, got all these done together and visited India on vacation and came back. Here I am still waiting to get each of the things lined up
