OCI still says 'Under Process' for an acknowledgement date of May 25th. What advice you fellow applicants have? What is the best way to escalate this? BLS folks say that if the OCI portal says 'under process' there is nothing they can do to escalate the case. Do you have any tips or suggestions? Thanks.
Entry visa mistake: Hi guys, I realized 2 days after sending my application. The whole purpose of entry visa is to have it as a back up in-case of any emergency need to travel.
I did not realize this and put the travel date as Sep 15th. So, I will be with no way to enter India for 3 months(Indian PP surrendered and visa will not start until Sep 15th?). I have two options:
1) Re-fill another application with date starting from date of visa issue
2) Leave it and in-case of emergency apply for an emergency visa
haha man, reading your story reminded me of mine! I put the travel date as end of august. but what you said makes sense! the whole point is to have access to India at all times! I read other's replies, and am relieved by the fact that this date doesn't matter!
I called BLS and the guy I talked to said that 'under process' means that verification is still ongoing. Not sure how long it takes, but the guy said that it can take as long as 8 weeks

Thats sad to hear. I was following your timeline, as mine was one day after yours. Anything you could think of that could take more time for your application.

Hello Everyone,
I applied for surrender certificate+ Entry Visa on June 15th. Today, my surrender certificate status shows "In Transit from Consulate General to BLS Centre". Does that mean, My surrender certificate is on its way to my home or they just sending my original indian passport? I thought surrender certificate will take 4 weeks atleast.

Happened the same for my kids. Had applied for Surrender + Entry.
So when you apply for surrender and entry visa together, they process it faster. Basically you just paid a premium for faster surrender....lol
The status above means you will be getting your cancelled passport as well as surrender certificate (which is nothing but a 50cent print on A4 size paper.
Dont discard your Indian passport ever. Never ever do that.
When i was standing in walk-in line at BLS. There was a uncle who wanted to apply for entry visa and BLS asked him for his passport from 1970....

Currently Surrender certificate is taking a week or so only in Toronto Jurisdiction.
Generally Original passport is returned with Surrender certificate (certificate stapled to Bio page on back.)
