They might need to check it on the application day, but they don't hold on to it.
We have traveled outside Canada while our OCI application was under process.

What was your last status on OCI site? I have been under the impression that once the file reaches Consulate (i.e., OCI status is updated to 'Under-Process') it does not come back, because by then BLS is done verifying the application. Is my understanding incorrect?
Entry visa mistake: Hi guys, I realized 2 days after sending my application. The whole purpose of entry visa is to have it as a back up in-case of any emergency need to travel.
I did not realize this and put the travel date as Sep 15th. So, I will be with no way to enter India for 3 months(Indian PP surrendered and visa will not start until Sep 15th?). I have two options:
1) Re-fill another application with date starting from date of visa issue
2) Leave it and in-case of emergency apply for an emergency visa

Travel date does not matter. They will issue the visa depending on the duration you asked for and it will be applicable from the date of issue.(usually 3-4 days after the application is accepted.)
If you want to avoid last minute emergency visa to India, better to apply for OCI as that is lifetime and no more running around BLS/Consulate.

Anyone whose application got processed status at Consulate site on June 15, did you see any update at BLS site, how long it normally takes for BLS (Brampton) to mark it ready for pickup or shipped after OCI is processed and received at Toronto at Consulate site ?
