Hi, I am a Canadian citizen from an Indian origin. I am currently holding canada passport and entered India last year September 2023 with e-visa. I then applied for visa extension to stay for more than 180 days of continuous stay and visa conversion from e-visa to entry visa that is granted and valid upto 2nd Jan 2025. After few days of getting the valid entry visa, I applied for OCI from India that was granted in Ocotber 2024. I am continuing to stay here in India with my mother since last year. Yesterday a visa officer came home for verification whether im still staying in the same address as my entry visa is expiring on 2nd Jan 2025 and asking me to leave India as I entered India on entry visa and shouldnt stay in India for more than 180days of continuous stay. I had to exit and re-enter on OCI. They don't have my OCI information. Question here is: I have valid canada passport and OCI, Can I continue to stay in India with valid passport and OCI or do I have to exit and re-enter on OCI . Please advice. FRRO office is closed on weekends and I have less time to make a decision. Expecting faster response. Thank you.

He visited your home to tell you to exit and come back on OCI. What more they should do to make it clear? Indian bureaucracy can screw you for a small mistake even after 10 years, and you will have no proof to show that the local FRRO told you that you can stay (in case they tell you so), so keep no doubt.
Make a quick and cheap journey to some place like Nepal/Dubai etc and be assured that there will be no problem in future.

BLS created OCI shipping label on Dec-24-24 but was not dispatched due to holidays so I went to the center on Dec-27-24 and luckily was able to pick it up in person.

Yes, I had included all the documents listed on the checklists. I had to submit signed declaration that I have canceled my voter id and ration card, I had made sure to do that process prior to submitting the application.

In my case only 1 parent is Canadian citizen so I am not 100% sure if both parents should sign on 1 declaration. But I would suggest to sign separate declarations as initially the declaration for Vancouver consulate was asking to write the ration card and voter id numbers to be written on it, so naturally that would be 2 separate declarations.
Also I don't know why, but BLS asked us to handwrite the entire declaration. So better both parents print>sign>scan>upload and write>sign>scan>upload

Thank you. So How to fill this form ? If you open the link of this form, In OCI application no, It should be Child OCI Application no ? and Bottom Only we as parent need to sign (as OCI applicant sign) and type our name ? I am confused as It is for child application and parents have to declare so.
Yes, I signed for my kid and OCI application id has to be that of kid's application. Still you never know what last minute surprise they have for you. so just prepare all different copies, if they reject one you will have other one ready. If you have premium lounge appointment, don't worry they will do it.

When I applied, me and my wife just signed the declaration about voter id and ration card and uploaded it to the OCI portal. Also attached it to the paper application. Didn't wait for anything to delete voter id or ration card info.
