1. Did you not submit one for your PR? You can use the same for citizenship application.

For PR, it has to be General. But, for Citizenship, any type of IELTS test is acceptable.

Where did you hear/read about such a PDF?

PDF i.e. AOR i.e. Acknowledge of Receipt is received when they check the application for completeness i.e. all the necessary documents are submitted, otherwise they ask for additional or missing documents. It is usually received after 15-30 days range after the delivery of application to them.

Yes, you can use the expired. For citizenship, you can use any IELTS exam taken after 2008, as long as minimum score 4.0 band is obtained in all four sections.
