Two application statuses should be automatically updated. No action needed on your side.

Hi everyone,

I’ve noticed that decent portion of July applicants have received MILs, but for August applicants, there’s been virtually none. It feels like a sharp drop-off. Given that many July applicants are already getting MIL/PAL I would’ve expected at least a few updates for early August submissions by now - which has not been the case.

Was there a similar pattern in other months as well? Has there been delay in recent months for the processing? If so, does anyone know of reasons behind it?

im wondering about this as well.. i am thinking it might be due to the timing of everything.. changing of administration, change of immigration minister, impending layoffs in IRCC, reorganization of priorities in processing, tightening of screening/background check procedures.. everything happened in the past 12 months or so and it would for sure affect the backlog.. as what we are seeing from the current processing times... but again its something totally out of our control.. we can only hope for the best and hope to get results before expiration of our current statuses.

This is so frustrating all the July applicants are getting all the updates where as August applicants are just there waiting for Aor's and no other updates . Been already more then 7 months since we applied but july people got everything on time

I submitted on June 30, got AOR in November, PAL in December , and no updated since then. I requested for GCMS note this week and I'm hoping for good news.

I'm an August 2024 non-express entry PNP applicant. I received the AOR in January 2025. I have the below email from IRCC during my PGWP submission prior to my PR application.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has put in place a temporary public policy that exempts some low-risk, in-Canada foreign nationals from having to complete an additional immigration medical exam as part of their application for permanent residence or for a permanent resident visa.

If you have completed an Immigration Medical exam (IME) within the last 5 years, include your IME or UMI number when you submit your online application for permanent residency. IRCC will process your permanent resident application with your previous medical exam results and notify you of next steps.

If you have not previously completed an IME, please complete one before you submit your application.

I'm not sure if I should wait for the medical exam request or should go ahead and get one. It might be that I'm exempted since I'm in Canada since the last 3.5 years and have only traveled to the US a few times since.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I don't think you need to do medical again. I had done it in 2022 before coming to Canada. It was accepted and I didn't have to do the medical again. It showed medical completed on 31st Mar 2025.

It does not matter at all. Mine application was 23 July and I got AOR on 23rd Dec, post that the timeline changed to 21 months. So all the process post that have been delayed. Mine BIL and Medical are cleared rest all are still in progress. So you don't need to worry. We are all in the same boat. We might be 2 steps ahead of Aug applicant but have been stuck at the same status for last 2 months. So when they open up your file all the process will start fast and you won't have to wait for long. One thing Canada teaches you for sure is "Patience".

Dont do the medical till you are told to. As I mentioned earlier, if you have done the medical in the past 5 years it will be considered and automatically updated. I didn't have to do it again. Mine was updated automatically as I had done my medicals in 2022.

What would be the way to to update if I need to change my employer during this waiting period for the next steps, what I mean this this my nomination need to be updated, this will be possible. Please advice if that is possible and possible impacts in the process of my PR.
