How long does IRCC take to give a final decision after comprehensive security is completed from CBSA? My security started in April 2024 and then progressed by CBSA since June 2024. On Friday, the IRCC agent told me on a call that CBSA had done security. My Eligibility, Medical, Biometrics, Information sharing, and criminality have already been passed. If anyone can share his experience.
Thanks
Once the security check is completed by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and passed to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the timeline for a final decision can vary. However, here’s what typically happens:
1. Final Review: IRCC conducts a final review of your file to ensure all aspects, including eligibility, medicals, criminality, and security, are met.
2. Officer’s Decision: If everything is in order, an immigration officer will make a final decision on your application.
3. Passport Request (PPR): If approved, you will receive a request for your passport or a confirmation of permanent residence (COPR).
4. Possible Delays: The timeline can be influenced by factors like the complexity of your case, internal processing times, and the workload of the responsible visa office.
Many applicants report receiving a decision within 2 to 8 weeks after security clearance. However, some cases can take longer, especially if additional background checks or documentation are required.
Since your security was completed by CBSA and IRCC acknowledged it, you might be nearing the final stages. You can follow up through webform inquiries or call IRCC for updates.
