I wonder if we can get a domestic SIN number right after completing the landing process or should we have to wait 72 days (current processing duration) for PR card to arrive on mail.
Did any get a new SIN number based on the landed COPR document?
a) Some airports have a Service Canada office. Not all do. If there is one where you land, you can apply there. Make sure that the COPR Txxxxxx number is written in your passport by the officer when you land.
b) Depending on which province you are living in, you may or may not be covered immediately. If you do get insurance, get it from Canada, not your home country insurers. Travel insurance is NOT suitable for a new immigrant's needs.
Thanks for the info. My online status just updated to "decision made", and I know I still may have some time before I get the call/letter, but I was concerned about getting a SIN. I am not sure, but that is what I need so that I can work... Right?

Thanks for sharing. Off to POE with COPR today. Very nervous as work permit expired. Fingers crossed all goes smoothly and I get the opportunity to apply for a SIN once again. Good luck everyone !
Just curious if anyone knows, my husband had an open work permit about 7-8 years ago and got a temporary SIN number for that, is the number he is going to get as a PR going to be the same?

concur...tamp SIN starts with a '9'. Once you get PR card or signed COPR go to Service Canada and collect your SIN number. No cads issues anymore, just a simple piece of paper with your new SIN number on it!
