Hey has anyone heard of the Post RN Bsc Degree in Ryerson Uni in ontario? Is it as good as York uni? There is another Uni in alberta providing the same course. But I forgot the name of the uni. Any opinions on this?

I am Indian Nurse applied NNAS , CNO RN. I nnas result "non comparable". I read in this form , CNO will issue temporary licenses. I have one doubt. Why they are issuing temporary licenses? I already passed NCLEX RN.

So your education from UWI was "non-comparable", you have nursing work experience in the Caribbean, and CNO has asked you for your job description? If this is the case, I would take this as a very good sign. When I received communication from CNO, instructions to register for OSCE was in the letter. They did not ask me for my current nursing job description or anything of the sort first. The fact that they did not mention OSCE to you is a good sign, I think.

NNAS requires for last 5 years. You may provided that. But now CNO want it since you graduated. Same thing happened to me. I know its frustrating but you have to provide.

Its a lesson for everyone that you provide ALL YOU EXPERIENCE too NNAS itself so that CNO wont ask the missing experience.

Yes. So the reason they are asking is that since Sept 2016 they have decided that they will also look at one's nursing work experience to determine if a non-comparable applicant needs to do OSCE or not. So if they were certain you needed to OSCE they would have asked you in the letter to register for OSCE. The fact that they did not means they are considering letting you through without OSCE. It means there is hope, anyway. NNAS just wanted the information on your nursing work for verification/legitimacy. CNO wants it to look at exactly what you do in your job. I think they will have a form for your employer to complete which is different from the NNAS form.

Did the letter list all of the requirements you have met? ie: Jurisprudence exam, eligibility to work in Canada, etc? With the education requirement being on the list of requirements that you have not yet met?

Ohhh ok. Well the letter said jurisdiction requirements has been met, and it only says the following documents are outstanding and they listed 1. Verification Nursing practice from employer 2. Summary of nursing practice to be done by me 3. Verification of registration...so i already filled up #2 so thats fine so working on the others as there is a time line for the documents to reach back to them.

I have a good feeling about this for you! If you read the Council minutes from Sept 22, 2016, you will be able to see the new assessment CNO has added (which was approved by the provincial government and is now a new part of the Nursing Act), where they allow the applicant the opportunity to have their nursing work experience be evaluated by them as evidence that you meet the education requirement. So far, I have not heard of an applicant who had their nursing work experience evaluated by CNO after NNAS who was not permitted to proceed with licensure.
