One more question! For people who managed to expedite the Ontario marriage certificate process, for your online status does it still state the "wait 10 weeks" blah blah even if it's actually been processed faster? or does it actually change and let me know it's in the mail?
I've faxed Thunder Bay a few times with no luck of hearing anything back and my online status still states to wait the full 10 weeks blah blah.
Where did you have the license filled out? If the order still says wait 10 weeks, then you have to wait. You can try to call them, but they will tell you that they will not put a trace on it until the 10wk mark. And even at that point, and telling them that you need it for immigration purposes, they might only send you a new long-form to fill out with your officiant to refile it.

We did a civil ceremony at Toronto City Hall. I've called a few times and they just told me to fax Thunder Bay with the urgent message as the cover letter. Explain my situation and then use the document checklist as proof that I need the certificate ASAP. We got married July 23rd and I ordered it the Monday after on July 25th, so I've been waiting over 5 weeks now for it :/ I was really hoping to get it sooner so I can send a complete package.

We did a civil ceremony at Kitchener City Hall. The Registrar's office asked us to have a long form filled out after they couldn't find it (12 wks later). In your case, you can try to call the Service Ontario call centre to see if you can get any kind of additional help. I am just sharing our experience with it...

That is awful!! Yeah, I'm just going to keep calling and see if I can get anymore of an update on my status. I would hate to send an incomplete package to only end up getting my marriage certificate in the mail a couple of days later. If i have to wait the full 10 weeks plus 2 weeks to mail, then I'd rather just send the rest of my package now with the record of solemnization and explain I will send the marriage certificate as soon as it arrives.

Well, we just waited. We married June 19 2015 and didn't have our certificate until November 8th. At that point, you are close enough to the next tax year, so we felt is was better to wait until the next year to file. Also gave us time to refine what was in our forms.
Good luck getting the certificate on time! If it was a birth certificate, you could have it in 72 hours from Thunder Bay!

I'm only so rushed because I currently am here on a SWAP visa (I'm American, my husband is Canadian) and my visa ends at the end of December. I love my job and want to keep it, so I need to get PR by then or RIGHT after in order for my job to keep me. Thanks for all your help!

When does your SWAP expire?
