hi rocky
i want to ask u few questions abt post landing.
first what would be the monthly expenditure for the family of three(couple & a kid of 5 years) in toranto?
second we have E71-nokia, an iphone, & nokia 6303. will these work in canada?
third can we manage without the car? i have heard maintenence & insurance is very costly there.
one more thing, if there is any uniform & school bags r there for kids? i mean to say should i carry some sort of white uniform shirts or socks or shoes etc.
next is can we bring some sort of spices & grocery or some ready to use packs with us?
thanks in advance

1. For 7 people total I would say
- Rent basement/apartment in Toronto can be 1000-1500.
- Food cost depends but average 1000 - 1200.
2. Yah they should work either on Bell or rogers. Just check the compatibility as Bell has moved to 3 G HSPDA
3. Yes you can the transport system is well managed here and 1 way ticket city costs 3 CAD and has a windows of 3 hours which means you can come back within 3 hours and travel as much as you want and it will only be 3 CAD.
4. No uniforms in govt school private schools some have some dont.
5. Yes you can but you will have to declare it at customs
Also i heard a odd news thro my relatives that most banks are just advt on job sites but they donot tend to recruit people....mostly recruitment is done thro refrences only in banking sector...kindly let me know your feedback...
Hi Rockey,
Currently I am in Kolkata. May be travelling in around November to Toronto.
I saw online, flights are from Delhi and Mumbai so I am planning to take any of this route. One of my friend told me that booking air ticket through Agents gives more discounts (they directly get it from Airlines), is it true? If you know some good agents, please let me know.. From Kolkata I don't find any difference from Agents rates.
Sanjay

Hi All,
Just a clarification.
I understand one get a SIN number immediatly after the SIN card application.
Can one get a (survival) job on that basis or does one have to wait until the real card arrives?
Thanks

For your appointment the HR/Accounts Manager of the Employers just need the SIN (number), not the SIN Card. If at all an employer is adamant to see it physically, s/he can always be requested to view it once it arrives. This is accepted Canada wide.
Sorry for replying late, Bangalore not aware but can suggest you to look for prices in this manner.
1. Goto the airline website and check out the prices for tentative date when you want to travel
2. Goto makemytrip kind of wesbites and see the price
3. Check the prices with local agents and you will have a fair idea.

Yes you can. Some companies insist on looking at the Sin Card but it is flexible and they might term your offer as conditional as it is already subject to background checks.
