Why IRCC asked you submit these documents and can u explain what they asked you in interview .

There is a long gap between my PR and citizenship application. long periods of stay outside Canada (years) as PR but met PR residency requirement during PR renewal.
They needed PCC although the citizenship online application portal didnot say it was required.

I was called for interview on Oct 15. requested for PCC, T4s and other things for past 5 years. Submitted them on Nov 15 (hand delivered in Scarborough office).
No update on tracker or emails since then. LPP pending, applied June 24.
Called IRCC and confirmed the file is update with receipt of additional documents submitted on Nov 15.

Any suggestions on how to follow up next?

New updates in the portal. No emails received.
Applied June 2024
LPP completed 30th Jan 2024.

Contacted IRCC by phone today and asked for an update. They couldn’t provide any update and said it’s not 7 months yet. She did mention that this application doesn’t come under ‘non routing’ and everything looks good. LPP hasn’t started since August 28.

January 23rd will be 7 months.

Received email for oath ceremony today gor Jan 14,2025. Oath is in-person. Is there a way to request virtual oath instead. We have 1 year old and it's difficult to travel with him, virtual will be much easier.

Around December 05 everything was marked as completed and then received email today for Oath.

Received email on Jan 3 2025 which oath ceremony on Jan 14,2025 from SCR Office.
Oath is virtual oath.

I selected online digital Certificate.

How Many days to get Canadian Certificate online?

Hi everyone. My mom applied for citizenship in June, and her ceremony is scheduled for January 14th. She is currently out of Canada(in the States). Does she have to be in Canada for the ceremony? The ceremony is online.

Also, she went to the States with a Canadian Travel document, and in the ceremony, she will have to destroy her PR card. Would she be able to return to Canada with the travel document and the citizenship certificate? Thanks in advance.

She should be in Canada for Oath as that's the first question oath officer will ask. She can travel to Canada via road.

Oh so she MUST be in Canada for the ceremony, she can't join from somewhere else even though the ceremony is online.

I just spoke with the IRCC agent on the phone and she advised me that she thinks my application is non-routine and as such could take time. I applied on July 21st and was never requested for finger prints or any other additional documents. Everything is completed for me except prohibitions. I have been waiting for prohibitions for more than 2 months now. I guess I'll just be waiting forever. The whole process is very random and unfair.
