it is normal, you status on tracker changes first and then a week before your test or few days before test you'll get an email.

As for test prep, there's a pinned post in this forum that can help you and yes, do read the Discover Canada book.

Guyssss I finally have an update I checked the new tracker and I’ve been scheduled for the test between dec 3rd and dec 23rd! Background check is still in progress!!! No email received yet!
Has this happened to a lot of applicants where test occurs before BC complete?

On the Citizenship Application Tracker I also saw the following text:

This tracker replaces the Client Application Status (CAS) tool. If you've been using CAS, you need to create a tracker account to continue checking the status of your citizenship application.
