Submitted July 12 AOR 18 July IP 20 July Ghost update on tracker 13 September. No email though. How long do you guys think before I get a real update ? Thanks in advance.
You would need a guarantor while you apply for the passport after you complete the citizenship application, after you get the citizenship certificate in hand.
The guarantor needs to be a Canadian citizen and should know you for at least 2 years. He has to give his personal info, passport details and sign your application form, photos etc., but doe not have to accompany you to Service Canada or Passport office.
In addition, you would also need 2 references who also know you for more than 2 years but they don't have to be citizens.
More details can be found here -

Thank you!!!
In that case I have some time I guess to find out.
I'm going to apply for name change certificate after receiving the citizenship certificate in Ontario. So it would take some time before I can apply for the Canadian passport.
Please do share your experience/opinions on Ontario name change process if you are aware of it. Want to change to my marriage name.
Also, I got an update today. BG completed today. Please update the file. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. It’s Friday today so I guess it would be next week for me. Hopefully on Tuesday.

Congratulations, spreadsheet updated.
The earliest your Ghost update can translate into a real update is Tuesday next week. Sometimes it takes longer if there was no real update immediately.
Thank you!!!

I am not fully aware of the name change process in Ontario. But I guess the general process across provinces is you need to apply for it with the vital statistics department, give fingerprints, IDs etc and once they approve you can change your DL, CRA, Bank accounts etc. It takes 2-4 months for the full process I believe.
Thank you everyone!!!
Please do share your experiences if anyone did a name change after getting the Canadian citizenship certificate.
Question: do we need to inform IRCC if we start school or new job or both after submitted the application? Or only address/e-mail/phone number change what we have to report?

This has no material impact to your citizenship application or your eligibility so it is not specifically mentioned in IRCC to inform them for any of these changes. But, if you wish to inform them, it has no harm in doing so via a webform.

Thanks, hssrp. I probably won’t inform them, as I don’t want to slow the process.
I was considering it because I’ve started learning French full-time. If I have an interview with an officer, should I mention anything that’s not in the application?
One more question: Do all applicants have an interview with an officer?

What you learn or start a new job after the application is submitted doesn't have impact on your application (technically the eligibility period it until the previous day of the application submission date). You don't have to explicitly mention anything, but if asked specifically, you can answer truthfully without any worries.
Interview is not for everyone. Only if the officer needs to verify something related to the application or travel history, ID/passport verification etc, we are called for an interview.
I received AOR on August 1st but haven't heard anything further since then. Is anyone in the same situation as me? I see some people received their AOR after me but got their test invitation.

Depends on processing office. Seeing movements after 2 months of AOR is pretty normal. Things move fast after that.
