Just curious, I am moving from my address in 1 month. What happens if I don't receive the AOR? even I submit the web form, there is nothing to track to associate with my account.
I am thinking of using Canada Post forwarding services but I don't know if they allow citizenship/immigration returned documents to be forwarded. I am not sure if they return them with the envelope that say do not forward.
I moved in November. I still got a key from old place and checking mailbox....but... i called cic and asked to change address under my UCI number to my new address.

Updating the address with IRCC is good but that won't help in case they return the application. The returned application will be sent to the address mentioned in the application itself.
I do agree it is frustrating and inefficient especially all the uncertainty if you have moved and not sure if the application would be returned. I would say this though looking at the trend that getting AOR 3 months or 6 months after submission should not change when your application goes into processing as that is currently based on application received date and generally the whole month moves by date to in process. Looking at current trends they are only starting April. So once your AOR is received it is likely you will not wait longer to go to in process.
Second trend that I have also observed that while the application can still be returned, it will only happen for the rare cases at this stage if AORs for your month are being issued. Most of you should be fine and will receive AORs whenever that second batch starts. There are rare cases where an application is still returned after a long time but I suspect there are other dynamics with those applications either that they were missed in being opened or they were deemed in error to be complete in the initial review and were caught when data was being inputted for AOR. I know does not help us when we are waiting but for me it is easier waiting if I try to put some logic around the process (if any!).
