Recieved a GU on Friday. Hopefully application made some progress.

Don't know my visa office as I ad requested GCMS notes through getgcms on Dec 16, but a few days ago they sent me 90 days extension of GCMS request.

Yes you can apply for free; here are the rules for requesting for free and you are eligible. Apply under the Privacy Act.

Any Canadian citizen, permanent resident or individual present in Canada has the right to access their personal information held by government institutions that are subject to the Privacy Act.

You do have to be physically present if you are not a Citizen or PR. A new request will not affect your application in any way. Gcms Notes has nothing to do with the progress or outcome of your application. There are falsehoods created by some that requesting Gcms Notes may result in an immigration officer reviewing your file; not true.
