I received fingerprint request email yesterday from Vancouver, today I submitted my fingerprints to RCMP with an agency. Did you get any emails? I don't know why we are asked for fingerprints while 95% of other applicants didn't receive fingerprint request. My friend passed background without fingerprints.

yeah like MMSR explained, it is mostly about matches in their database. Generally it takes around 2 weeks to pass background check after fingerprints BUT many applicants who were requested fingerprints are stuck with LPP incomplete. My son haven't passed his prohibitions yet and he was requested fingerprints too. What he found was, applicants that were stuck in prohibitions were requested fingerprints, BUT applicants that were requested fingerprints aren't always stuck in prohibitions. So, it might be a negative flag or have just no affect.

LPP hasn't been cleared for anyone yet in Jan 2024 applicants as per the tracker

What does Ghost Update mean, where do you get those?

for citizenship applications, there is a date on top right of the tracker(which you create). This date is the date when the application was last updated/touched in the background by IRCC.
If there are new updates along with the date change, you will see "New updates" mentioned in the application and this is a new status change/update.
If you see just the date updated at the top right and no "New updates", this is what is called a ghost update and there is NO actual change/progress in any of the application steps.

Ghost update = Only the date change on top right and no respective change in application status.
