Technically, lawyer is not needed. But we asked a lawyer to help us through the process of filling out the forms and for now to do the follow ups. Just wanted to be safe. But yeah. As you said it is not necessary.

Yesterday we appeared for the test at Scarborough location. I (19/20) and my wife (17/20) both passed.
Question paper was little tricky but as long as you read whole question and options carefully you will be good.

I met few people there who applied last Oct/Nov 2018 and gave a test yesterday also they got an oath invitation for today.
Two couples I met and their files were transferred from Mississauga to Scarborough and they got test invitation after 14/15 months.

I believe Mississauga office started transferring delayed files to Scarborough and people start getting test invitations.

Now I am waiting for Oath invitation...
