Hey guys this is for my brother

He is already in the Uk finishing his 3 year business UG this semester, he plans to come to Canada for his masters in e-commerce.

Could he apply for his study permit in the Uk or he does he have to go to India to apply or is there any other scheme to apply.

Any help is appreciated.

He can apply from the UK.

Some of the consultants my dad met in Indian said that Indian students in the UK cannot apply for Canada for 2 years
Any idea on that

Is it the normal procedure to apply for a study permit not from the home country

As part of the study visa application process, your brother must prove that he has strong ties to his home country and has no plans to remain in Canada long term. He can apply from the UK but it may be more difficult for him to demonstrate ties. Having said that, if he returns to India and applies for a study permit immediately - I'm not sure how different this will be from applying from the UK since he will have just returned to India (and again, it will probably be difficult for him to demonstrate strong ties).

The consultants are probably recommending that your brother return to India and live there for two years before applying for a study visa in Canada so that he can show strong ties to his home country and increase his chances of an approval.

However there is nothing stopping him from trying to apply now.
