Indian Passport Renewal from BLS Toronto

Hello to all experts

I have a question regarding my passport renewal process. My passport is getting expired this year. I want to renew it but i have nobody else living back home. My house is locked as all my family are in canada. So if ny police enquiry goes to my house, nobdy will be there to reply. I have no plans right now to visit India in near future. Will it be a problem ( even legal problems) for me to stay in Canada with expired passport. Can i stay in canada with expired passport.I m a permanent resident here. Is it possible that when ever i want to visit india, at that moment i should renew my passport. Please reply.

I believe you status in Canada is PR.
You can renew your passport even after one year of expiry without penality. After that you may have to pay the respective fees to them for renewal.

Status as of
22nd Jan : "Your passport has been printed and being forwarded to Embassy/Consulate. The Embassy/Consulate will contact you once they receive the passport for dispatch."
Also, received reply from HCI on 22nd to my email dt. 18th Jan: passport granted, printed in India, shipped to HCI Ottawa - said it takes 1-2 weeks for HCI to get the passport after which it will be issued.

23rd Jan-8pm: Police verification done at India permanent address

BLS status: Processing at HC (no change)

How about you? Has your status changed now? I would estimate it to change this week when PP is received at HCI-should just be a matter of 1 week to 10 days for you to get the PP as your PV was done 1 week before mine.

Did you finally get your passport?

It's been over a week for my status updated as "Your passport has been printed and being forwarded to Embassy/Consulate. The Embassy/Consulate will contact you once they receive the passport for dispatch." And BLS also shows processs at HC. Wondering how much time it takes to get the tracking info.

I am planning to apply for passport renewal. I have question on personal particular form is it Mandatory if yes how many photos total we need. Is it one for main application and one for PP form?

I am seeing contradicting information on CGI website and BLS checklist.

BLS Agent told me Personal Particular form is not needed for the reissuing of passport. So, Just 2 photos needed.

If you can foresee no planned or emergency reasons for traveling to India, you need not renew passport before expiry.
Otoh, it is not necessary that all passport applications will trigger a police enquiry.
