Indian Passport Renewal from BLS Toronto

Hello. Was this for tatkal or regular passport?

Here is my Timeline if it helps someone.

- Feb 26th: Application and supporting documents along with old passport Delivered at BLS Brampton
- March 8th: BLS website Tracking Status Changed to “Application Under Process” from “No Record Found”
- March 9th : Processing at Consulate General
- March 17th: Got File number.
- March 18th: Passport has been printed
- March 19th: Dispatched via courier in BLS website tracking.
- March 22nd: Received new Passport.

No. Passport number not mentioned anywhere in Status map. Currently in ‘Passport application Granted’ status.

Again my status is showing as Under Review from passport granted status. On Friday Police verification happened in India address. In Status map showing as‘Submitted as clear PV”. Hopefully this week..!

Status on Passport website changed to Passport Printed. 30 mins back it was Print has been initiated.

Passport delivered at my house today. Glad to have this process complete in exactly 5 weeks. I had to apply to correct a mistake in Fathers name before I apply for supervisa.

Being a PR, my Canadian address was printed on the passport this time.

Do you need an appointment to pick up your passport at BLS Brampton? If not, do you have to wait in line? Is there a different line for pick up?

1. No, Police clearance based on the address in the previous passport. I have come across only people whose addresses were also Indian, hence this clearance is done by someone from your local Indian police station; if yours is foreign, I don't know how it works.

2. I Didn't fully understand the question. For passport renewals: in regards to (1) yes; for visitor record or WP, there are no police clearances that I'm aware of. As I have helped apply for others, these never came across as it is completely done in Canada and issued by Canadian authorities.

3. I know all applicants are treated differently even though they are dependents, hence I think it's done separately. I don't know how it would be for a child/ minor.

4. You would have to give someone's contact number from India/ local address place for police to cross-verify your old presence. Preferably, someone from the family or close relatives could also work if the family is not present. There are detailed videos available on YouTube on how to renew a passport.

I want to mention my timeline for I have been monitoring this thread for quite some time.

Timeline:

• 2023-02-15 Submitted to BLS (Walk-In @ Surrey, BC)
• 2023-02-15 Under Process - In Transit from BLS Centre to Consulate General (BLS)
• 2023-02-16 In Transit from Consulate General to BLS Centre (BLS - weird status. possibly a bug)
• 2023-02-17 Passport application is under review at Indian Embassy/Consulate (BLS)
• 2023-02-18 Application Form Submitted (Consulate)
• 2023-02-18 Granting Initiated, Sent To Go (Consulate)
• 2023-02-22 Granting Status Set as 'Clear'. Application Granted on No verification basis (Consulate)
• 2023-02-22 Print Initiated (Consulate)

Notable changes in my passport:

• Address change from Indian to Canadian. (I am a PR)
• Adding Spouse name in the Passport.

Update:

• 2023-02-24 Printed: Passport No. ******** of type Ordinary-Normal (Consulate)
• 2023-02-27 QC Accepted and Dispatch Initiated (Consulate)
• 2023-03-01 BLS Received (BLS)
• 2023-03-01 Purolator Picked up (BLS)
• 2023-03-02 Received Passport

The page quality in the new Passport is worse than what I had before. Feels cheap.
The Old passport is punched 2 holes and a big stamped message says this passport is cancelled but old issued Visas are still valid and a new passport has been issued.
