What did they exactly mention in GCMS notes about IELTS?
Just that English proficiency is assessed. IELTS result verified.
Thing is, they have mentioned in this reply that if there is a visa office-specific instruction. In the case of applicants from Pakistan, files are being transferred from Ottawa to Abu Dhabi and now starting in June 2021, they have been transferred to Warsaw. Each of these offices could have its own specific requirement at its own discretion. Add more confusion to an already confused state.
Shouldn't matter where your file gets sent for work redistribution. Your application will be assessed on the requirement of your country of residence.
wow that is a train wreck. why cannot ircc follow a single mandate? They really need to make clarification over such, in one place and make it the official statement.

This is the mess we have to deal with.
@aspirant256 You have been headache w this for a long time bro, go for an Academic one then you would be worry-free.
Would it affect my SDS application if I attach IELTS General? has anyone received PPR with IELTS General?
I would be applying for express entry along with a study permit, attempting both exams will be difficult and time taking for me, so I am trying to hit two birds with one stone.
I might have a chance with AINP, so I want my express entry profile to be up and running sooner.
Please give your opinions
Hi, Did your visa get accepted with IELTS General? I am in the same situation. IDP consultant is advising me to give academic even though the official website says IELTS general is accepted.

Not yet, I am confused as well. I have yet to give IELTS and cant decide which one to go for.

Why not do IELTS academic? If you did well on the ielts general, the academic shouldn't be a problem.
The VO checks your IELTS score in order to see if the applicant is good at english, and can understand his courses without difficulty. If you do the academic, you wouldn't risk refusal on the basis of your ielts result.

Problem is, I stand a chance to get NOI from AINP and for that, I need IELTS GT. IELTS exams are stressful and draining, I can gather energy for one attempt only.

I'm sorry but if you are applying for a study permit you're most probably going to a university, so if you can't take an ielts exam which is considered fairly easy in comparison to university courses, you can't do 4/5 finals in a week.

He didn't say he couldn't take the test, he is just trying to decide if to take the general or the academic based on his current and future needs.

Since you don't want to take the general for your SP, you'll have to take both tests. You can take the academic one now, as that's more pressing then take the general one when you get your NOI ( I think they give a few weeks for submissions).

I did. He said the exam is draining (which it is for most people), not that he couldn't take it.
