I'm trying to find out what it takes to obtain a new work permit once my IEC Work permit expires at the end of December. I can't apply under any IEC categories since I'm limited to participate twice my current work permit is from my second participation.

I wish to stay with my current employer and I think I'm not eligible to have my IEC work permit extended? Do I need an LMIA since I'm already working or do my employer need to file one anyways? I live and work in Quebec. My current work permit is a closed work permit under the Young Professional category.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Yes - your employer needs to obtain an approved LMIA. You need to have an approved LMIA before you can apply for a regular work permit. It doesn't matter that you are already working for your employer.

Thank you! Do I need a CSQ as well since I'm working in Quebec? Or will an approved LMIA be enough to apply for a regular work permit?

That I'm not sure - hopefully someone else will be able to help.
