I receive my CPR today, and my husband and I are planning to flagpole this weekend at the nearest border crossing.
I already have a job offer from a place that I've been volunteering at, and I was wondering how long it would be before I receive my Social Insurance number? I'm not even sure if I need it to be able to work legally, I'm just curious!

. Thanks.
You do need a SIN to work. It is fast and easy. You go in and will have your number the same day. You need to bring your CORP. We also had a letter from the bank proving address, but I'm not positive if that is necessary.

Wow, thanks. I thought we had to wait for it.
I'm going to bring CPR, my visa extension, the sponsorship approval, and my CSQ.
Oh, and my passport.

You have to wait about 10 days for the actual card, but u get the number same day, and that's what u need to work.
when i came to Canuckland 9 years ago with PR i went straight into city hall and they gave me aslip of paper there and then. card came with the mail.
