Higher Diploma/ Health and saftey Course

Hello hope you are doing good....I am a recent graduate of Geology
with CGPA=2.97
HSSC 50%
SSC68%
Ielts 6.5

I applied at the university of Calgary and university of Saskatewan in thesis based Masters in GIS program but was rejected...now i am looking forward to take admission in higher Diploma in Petroleum Engineering Technology...hope fully il get admission in Diploma course.....or else i will do a 2-3 years course on Health Safety and Environment from the University of Calgary
NOw..my question is
1) What are the chances of geting Student visa if i am going for a Higher Diploma...
THE Health Safety and Environment course offered by Uni of Calgary is 2-3 year prgram and one can also study it as a pet time course...

2)how much bank statement do i need to show..i knw it is one year living expences adn one year fee..but how much USD it is
